This learning course designed to help you expand your signing skills around festive vocabulary and cultural traditions. Learn how to express holiday greetings, describe celebrations, and share meaningful stories with family, friends, and community using accurate ASL.

Through engaging video lessons and culturally-rooted context, you’ll build confidence signing about diverse holidays and the traditions that make each one special.

By the end of this course, participants will demonstrate:

  • Comprehension of ASL vocabulary and culturally embedded holiday discourse by accurately recognizing key signs, cultural references, and factual details presented in the narratives; selecting accurate summaries and explanations of traditions, community practices, and celebratory norms; and applying culturally appropriate communication strategies to scenario-based questions.
  • Learners will also differentiate and compare diverse holiday traditions, family practices, and community perspectives across storytellers; evaluate how cultural values, social expectations, and community contexts influence holiday experiences and communication choices; and identify overarching themes that connect vocabulary, cultural traditions, family dynamics, and lived experiences across multiple narratives, as measured through a multiple-choice assessment.

Recommended for intermediate or advanced ASL learners. This course is on-demand,  ASL videos with English captions.
